Mocha - where the buzz is at

Magical tales of faraway lands have always mesmerized us in that they’re so vivid in descriptions of colours and clothes; natives and their customs.Well, if you walk into the Mocha café in Koramangla, don’t be surprised if you bump into Aladdin and Princess Jasmine having a cuppa and smoking some Sheesha. The décor and furnishings are wholly Moroccan and Persian; giving you the feeling that the place is right out of a storybook. Located on 80 ft road in 8th block Koramangla, Mocha is not “just another café.” Step inside and you’ll forget yourself instantly.

Spanning two floors, the ground floor has an indoor seating area with an air-conditioned Green room and Red room, thus named because of the colour of the walls, lighting and interior decoration. Both these are non-smoking rooms where the electric atmosphere and exotic furnishings transport you to another place altogether. Shimmering chandeliers, soft lighting, golden picture frames, comfy mattresses and cushions… this place has the works! What’s more, if you find anything to your fancy, you can buy it and take a bit of Mocha home with you. The top floor, which is the terrace, is an airy, open space with bean bags scattered around the tables and three seating sections separated by multicoloured curtains. There is also a solitary Silver room with an LCD television where smoking is allowed that gets occupied swiftly nowadays courtesy the IPL matches.

With so many options to choose from, this coffee bar makes for the perfect lounge ~ one chill out session here will leave you feeling totally invigorated. With a menu like no other, their assortment of coffees that cater to all caffeine lovers will leave you exhausted. Mocha is the only café in the country that offers 18 different gourmet coffee beans. Say hello to beans from Jamaica, Guatemala, Hawaii, Kenya, Morocco & Ethiopia to name a few. All specialty coffees are brewed and served black in a French Press with milk on the side, or in an Au-Lait Cup with steamed milk.

Particularly for the caffeine connoisseur are gourmet coffees grown in select plantations from different corners of the world. Decide your cup from the region of your choice. Though primarily a coffee lounge, Mocha is renowned for serving the finest Sheeshas in town. Single or double flavoured, regular or unique mixes and deluxe sheeshas, you name it, they have it. Choose from deliciously aromatic fruit flavours like orange, apple, mint, cherry, peach and sweet melon for a regular hookah. Essences like blueberry, silver apple, cappuccino and rose come under the special blends category. Exclusively for the refined smoker are flavours that are purely based on milk, coffee, icy mint or seasonal fruit juices.

The most premium flavours however, are the champagne, red wine and white wine sheeshas which will send you into a tizzy...literally! The good thing is that they don’t serve hookah to youngsters under the age of 18. As for the eats, there’s good food for every mood. Feel like some French Poutine? Or perhaps a plate of noodles? Italian Paninis (traditional flatbread sandwiches with yummy fillings), wraps, pastas, fresh crepes… take your pick! The ‘All-day breakfast’ allows you to choose from Indian, continental and other breakfasts which, as the name suggests, are available through out the day.

Not to forget how you can spoil yourself with the array of sinful chocolate, coffee and other lip-smacking milkshakes available that will leave you with a contented smile on your face and a burp on your lips.
